Status hierarchy is an issue that many people face in their day-to-day lives. It is a widely accepted concept, yet it can cause great inequality between individuals and create hardships for those who are deemed to have a lower status than others in a society.

Status hierarchies can foster an "us versus them" mentality in societies if inequalities become too great and disparate groups begin to have opposing views on important matters. If this kind of imbalanced structure is left unchecked then this can be detrimental to the growth of any particular group or nation.

The consequences of status hierarchy can be serious and long-reaching, ultimately leading to greater levels of inequality and social injustice. Therefore it is vitally important for all individuals to strive towards achieving real equality in order to ensure everyone is valued justly and social progress can be made over time.
