The soul is eternal and unaffected by the physical body from "summary" of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta - Gita Saar (Hindi) 2020: भाग 1 by पं. रवि शर्मा

The soul, which is our true essence, is eternal and indestructible. It is not affected by the physical body, which is temporary and perishable. The body may undergo changes, grow old, and eventually die, but the soul remains untouched by these transformations. According to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, the soul is beyond birth and death. It is not born with the body, nor does it die when the body dies. Just as a person discards old clothes and wears new ones, the soul discards old bodies and takes on new ones. The physical body is like a garment that the soul wears for a temporary period. It is subject to decay and destruction, but the soul remains eternal and unchanging. The body may experience pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, but the soul is always at peace and unaffected by these fleeting emotions. Understanding the eternal nature of the soul is essential for achieving inner peace and happiness. By realizing that we are not the body but the eternal soul within, we can transcend the limitations of the physical world and connect with our true self. Through self-realization and spiritual practice, we can experience the eternal nature of the soul and free ourselves from the cycle of birth and death. By recognizing the impermanence of the physical body and focusing on the eternal soul, we can attain true liberation and ultimate bliss.
