Pride impedes our relationship with God from "summary" of Crazy Love by Francis Chan

Pride is a dangerous thing. It is a sneaky enemy that can creep into our hearts without us even realizing it. When we are proud, we are essentially saying to God, "I've got this. I don't need You." Pride makes us believe that we are in control of our own lives and that we don't need to rely on God for anything. The truth is, pride is a barrier that separates us from God. It creates distance between us and our Creator because it puts us in the driver's seat instead of letting God take the wheel. When we are prideful, we are essentially telling God that we don't need Him, that we can handle things on our own. This attitude of self-sufficiency hinders our ability to truly connect with God and experience His love and grace in our lives. Pride blinds us to our need for God. It makes us think that we are better off without Him, that we can figure things out on our own. But the reality is that we are nothing without God. We are completely dependent on Him for everything, whether we realize it or not. When we let pride get in the way of our relationship with God, we are missing out on the incredible blessings and joy that come from surrendering to Him.
  1. Pride is a barrier that keeps us from experiencing the fullness of God's love and presence in our lives. It hinders our ability to trust Him completely and to walk in obedience to His will. When we humble ourselves before God, acknowledging our need for Him and surrendering our pride, we open the door to a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him. Letting go of pride allows us to experience the freedom and joy that come from fully relying on God and trusting in His goodness and faithfulness.
